Wismayapponnonam

Onam, the vibrant and culturally rich festival of Kerala, is celebrated with immense joy and enthusiasm by Malayalees around the world. This year, the Wisconsin Malayalee Association (WISMA) is excited to host "Wismayapponnonam" on Sep 07 2024. This event promises to bring together the Malayalee community in Wisconsin for a day filled with traditional festivities, delicious food, and captivating cultural programs.

"Wismayapponnonam" will feature the quintessential Onam feast, known as Sadya, which is an elaborate and traditional vegetarian meal served on a banana leaf. The Sadhya includes an array of delectable dishes, each offering a unique taste of Kerala's rich culinary heritage. From the tangy avial to the sweet payasam, the Sadya is a gastronomic delight that showcases the diverse flavors of Kerala cuisine.

In addition to the Sadya, the event will include a series of cultural programs that reflect the artistic and cultural traditions of Kerala. Attendees can look forward to vibrant performances of traditional dance forms like Kathakali and Mohiniyattam, along with music and other cultural presentations. These programs provide a wonderful opportunity for the community to connect with their roots and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.

The celebration will conclude with light snacks, offering a perfect end to a day filled with joy and festivity. "Wismayapponnonam" is not just a celebration of Onam; it is a celebration of community, culture, and togetherness. WISMA invites everyone to join in the festivities and experience the true spirit of Onam.
